Lethal mountain dragons that live primarily on fish, these dragons have three spines, giving them extreme strength and flexibility. Their habit of jumping high out of the water when they are happy has given some the misconception that they can fly. Most widely distributed during the feudal years of Japan, they would often form close bonds with wandering samurai, sometimes becoming such true friends that they would sacrifice their lives for one another, and on more than one occasion they served as loyal guards for the Emperor. It is also known as the sakura dragon. They live in mountain caves that have some source of water in them, like a deep underground pond or hot springs. The Japanese once tried hooking them up to giant harness' so they could pull their boats at extremely fast speeds, but that didn't go so well. They have clear membranes over their eyes that allow them to see underwater. Their eggs look like pearls. These dragons are faithful, and have only one mate their entire lives. Scales from these dragons are said to bring extraordinarily good luck, but at a price-the bearer will also become more violent and cranky.
