Azurite

As he lay there idly under the starlight, he could see the brief glimmer and ripple of cetaceans frolicking in the distance. Silly creatures, indeed, and yet smarter than humans in that they weren’t foolish enough to step into his territory uninvited. It was an amusing thought, that these streamlined animals might be cleverer than the dominant species, and he let his mind follow it, imagining them building great underwater cities, driving about in bubble cars, taking to the stars… and that was when a most uncanny feeling struck him. He looked up, uneasily, staring into the depths of the night sky, and had almost the sensation of being watched—as if some space faring dolphins were, at that very moment, looking down at him and chattering in glee. He shook his head, but the idea remained. He wondered if this was how Alisdair had felt before he realized the dragon talking to him was real. Crazy.
But then again, perhaps not. Space isn't that different from the sea. You can't breathe in either.



Heeeeeeeee this took AGES and there’s still some things I’m not happy with (background, Tolano looks too Eastern-dragon-ish, how his tail rests on the ground…. D8< ), but still probably the nicest thing I’ve done in a while. Working with digital colors on traditional lineart is tricky, but satisfying. X’D

Anyway, to get to the REAL point—I hope you like it, Apple, and I hope you have a great post-birthday week, haha! You're a super sweet friend and a great person, hope you remember that!
